Combined
Spouse - Domestic Partner Premiums
If two regular County employees are married to each other
or are domestic partners and are both eligible for a contribution
from the County toward employee-only medical and dental
coverage, they may consolidate the County contributions
toward the premium cost for "employee plus one dependent" or "employee
plus two or more dependents" coverage held by one
of the employees. In this situation, one employee (referred
to below as "Spouse B") becomes a dependent on
the other employee's (referred to below as the "Primary
Employee") medical and dental coverage.
For the 2008-09 Open Enrollment Period: If you have already submitted the Election Form to Combine County Health Contribution form, you do not need to refile the form during this open enrollment period.
In order to be eligible under this provision, all of the following
conditions must be met:
• |
Both employees are covered by the same medical and
dental plans; and |
• |
Spouse B is insured as a dependent on the Primary
Employee's medical and dental insurance plans; and |
• |
Both employees have authorized the consolidation
of contributions on a form prescribed by the Human
Resources Director (Election
to Combine County Health Contributions). |
The amount of the consolidated contributions shall be that amount
which would otherwise be contributed by the County toward the Primary
Employee's and Spouse B's employee-only premiums for the respective
medical and dental plan, less the cost of participation by Spouse B
in the Employee Assistance Program and the Health Care Assistance Plan
(Care Counsel).
